Instructions
Baking Steps
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, and mix until well incorporated.
Stir in the vanilla extract and milk into the mixture.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
Distribute the batter evenly into the prepared cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
For the frosting, beat the butter until creamy, then gradually mix in the powdered sugar.
Add milk and vanilla, mix until smooth and fluffy.
Frost the cooled cupcakes and decorate as desired.
Notes
For a fun twist, try adding sprinkles or edible glitter to the frosting.
