  • 4.5 cups all-purpose flour plus more for dusting
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree not pumpkin pie filling
  • 0.5 cup sugar granulated
  • 2 tbsp active dry yeast ensure it's fresh
  • 1 cup milk warm, about 110°F
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3 tbsp cinnamon ground
  • 0.5 tbsp nutmeg ground

Preparation Steps

  • In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  • Mix in pumpkin puree, sugar, salt, and melted butter to the yeast mixture.
  • Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let rise for 1 hour.
  • After rising, roll out dough onto a floured surface into a 12x18 inch rectangle.
  • Spread softened butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Roll the dough tightly and cut into 12 equal rolls.
  • Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and bake rolls for 25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let cool slightly before serving warm with icing if desired.

Notes

Try adding chopped nuts for extra texture or drizzle with caramel for added indulgence.
