Main Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup 7 Up (cold)
  • 2 tablespoon butter, melted (for brushing)

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 450 F (232 C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the self-rising flour, sugar, and salt until evenly combined.
  • Cut the cold cubed butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Pour in the cold 7 Up and stir gently with a fork until just combined — do not overmix.
  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 12 minutes or until the tops are golden brown. Remove from oven and brush with melted butter. Serve warm.
