Making Christmas cookies has always been my favorite part of the holiday season.

My mom gathered us kids into the kitchen a few days before Christmas and managed to get us to all sit down and make hundreds of Christmas cookies. My sister and I still use the old cookie sheets and cutters every time we visit for the holidays.

We’ve tweaked the ritual over the years to become “vacation cookie decorating,” and it’s become a staple of our annual getaways. Not only have we been experimenting with new foods, but we have also been adding wine to the celebrations.

Although these snowball cookies aren’t really Christmas cookies, the wintry flavor is perfect for the season. These snowball cookies, so named for their spherical, delicate appearance, are the perfect size for a cookie jar. Although sugary treats are always a hit with kids, the combination of ground nuts and almond extract gives these cookies a sophisticated flavor that even grownups will appreciate.

And that’s not the only reason these cookies are suitable for grownups to enjoy. They’re delicious, and they’re also a great option for those who want to satisfy their sweet taste without sacrificing their health. We may seem like a paradox, yet we’re actually rather many. These cookies are light since they are made with organic ingredients and whole wheat flour.

Although they look and taste fancy, these cookies are actually quite easy to prepare. This simple dessert requires only five basic ingredients and can be prepared in a pinch.

All you have to do is combine the ingredients, roll them into balls no bigger than an inch, and bake them for 8 to 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Roll the cooled cookies in additional powdered sugar to achieve the snowball look.

Method for making Snowball Cookies with Butter and Pecans.
These delicious cookies need very little effort to prepare. To begin, whip the butter and confectioners’ sugar together until frothy. Then, while the mixer is on low, add the salt, vanilla, flour, and nuts. Form into one-inch balls, then bake on baking pans lined with parchment paper.

Let cool until you can comfortably handle them. Into the powdered sugar and roll. Put them on wire racks meant for cooling cookies. After they have cooled completely, give them another roll in the powdered sugar.

Snowball cookies, also known as Russian Tea Cakes and Mexican Wedding Cookies, can be frozen and thawed with ease.
They can be pre-made by baking and freezing. The cookies should be placed in two separate Ziploc freezer bags and then placed in a strong Gladware container for freezing. Remove them from the freezer in their original packaging and thaw them on uncovered trays or plates. Do not let them thaw in the packaging or plastic. The cookies will be ruined by the dampness that forms. After defrosting, refrigerate the cookies at room temperature for up to a week in sealed containers.

In a process known as flash freezing, the dough can be frozen just as easily. All you have to do is roll out the dough and set it on baking trays lined with parchment paper. To prevent them from sticking together, make sure they’re not touching. Freeze until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag and place in a freezer-safe container. The cookies can be baked straight from the freezer; to do so, spread them out on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and allow them to thaw somewhat while the oven heats up. In some cases, freezing cookies can extend their baking time by one or two minutes.

Light and fluffy butter and sugar frosting requires creaming.

This dough is quite thick, therefore it is best to roll the cookies using your hands, as the heat from your palms will aid in shaping the dough.
Get the oven hot and put the baking sheet in the exact center.
For best results, bake using either parchment paper or silicone mats.
