One of the best side dishes that may be served with dinner is a bloomin’ onion. The crispy onion topping on this recipe takes few minutes to prepare.
My recipe for homemade Bloomin’ Onion is featured in this Gplline Kitchen post.
Ingredients
ONE SIZEABLE ONION
Paprika, 2 teaspoons
Powdered garlic, 1 teaspoon
Season with a pinch of salt and a few shakes of pepper
One Tablespoon of Cornstarch
a third of a cup of baking powder
The equivalent of one teaspoon of cayenne pepper
4 ounces of cream
Two big eggs
sauce for serving:
Sour cream, 14 cup
Fifteen mL of mayonnaise
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce 2 teaspoons of horseradish
Ketchup, 2 teaspoons
a pinch of cayenne pepper, a quarter teaspoon of paprika, salt, and pepper
First, you need to cut the onion and then you can peel it. To make it easier to eat, divide the onion into 12 pieces.
Combine the cornstarch, baking powder, cayenne, paprika, baking powder, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Be sure to thoroughly combine all the ingredients.
Combine the whole milk and the two eggs in a separate bowl and stir until smooth.
Sliced onions should be dunked in the flour mixture in the first bowl until they are completely coated, and then dipped in the second bowl until they are evenly coated.
Return the onion to the first bowl and repeat the process of sprinkling the flour mixture over the onion.
For four minutes on each side, fry the onion in oil heated to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Take the onions out of the oil and let them drain for a few minutes on some paper towels before serving.
Prepare a serving sauce and accompany with the dish.
To accompany a dish, use this serving sauce:
Put the ingredients in a little bowl, Stir in a cup each of mayonnaise, sour cream, horseradish, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, cayenne pepper, pepper, and salt. Coat everything in the mixture. To chill the sauce for serving, place it in the fridge.
