For as long as I can remember, our family has brought Dorito Taco Salad to every potluck we’ve ever attended.
A delicious taco salad is always a hit, and this one is no exception.
This zesty twist on a typical meal features seasoned ground beef, crisp lettuce, pinto beans, vegetables, and, of course, Doritos.
I adore salads, but they can get dull after a while. Our typical “same old salad” rut is broken with this Dorito Taco Salad. It’s simple to prepare and tastes great as a bonus!
I’m a huge fan of salads, but I also enjoy pasta dishes and casseroles that take inspiration from tacos.
Taco seasoning, especially my homemade taco seasoning mix, is a wonderful combination of flavors, and it tastes especially nice with fresh, crunchy lettuce. There isn’t a single person who hasn’t said that this is their favorite thing I’ve ever made that was inspired by tacos.
This is a great use for any remaining taco beef from a previous meal. The truth is, I frequently prepare a large quantity of taco meat and put it in the freezer for use on nights when I am too busy to cook.
Only a few seconds in the microwave and I have everything I need for tacos, taco salads, or a batch of my famous Loaded Tater Tot Nachos.
Other than that, you probably already have all the necessary components on hand. Canned pinto beans and chopped black olives are constantly present in my kitchen. I always keep staples like lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, pepper, and sour cream in the fridge.
Don’t forget the Doritos, either; we recommend the Nacho Cheese flavor.
Ingredients:
Ground beef, one pound
Taco spice from Old El Paso, one (1 oz.) package
a single 16-ounce bag of frozen maize in the Mexican style
One sixteen-ounce can of refried beans
The equivalent of one 28-ounce container of frozen tater tots
a couple of cups of shredded cheddar cheese
Eight ounces of sour cream
To brown ground beef, use a wooden spoon to break it up as it cooks in a skillet over medium heat. Throw in the seasoning packet for tacos and mix it very thoroughly. Putting aside.
Combine the ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese in a large serving bowl. Toss the Doritos with the dressing right before serving.
