Though it comes together quickly, this salad doesn’t skimp on flavor or presentation. While I enjoy seafood salad, my spouse is a huge fan. He devoured almost the entire batch I made of this dish and begged me to make more. He’s happy it’s simple to prepare.

The brightness that the lemon juice and the dill bring is wonderful. I’ve found that using dried dill as a substitute for fresh when I can’t get my hands on any is just as tasty. The use of Old Bay seasoning gives it a distinct flavor that sets it apart from similar products. If you have trouble locating Old Bay, please refer to the Notes for a list of alternatives.

Those who enjoy seafood salads will be raving about yours and begging for the recipe. Also, if you or a family member has an extreme craving for seafood salad, you might want to double the recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

16 ounces of fake crab (preferably flaked style)
One-half cup of diced celery
Red onion, 3 tablespoons, finely diced

Season with Old Bay, 1/2 teaspoon
12 teaspoon of pure lemon juice
An Equal Measure of Mayonnaise

Salt and pepper to taste 1 1/2 tablespoons of chopped fresh dill (or 1/2 teaspoon of dried dill)

DIRECTIONS

Mix the imitation crab, celery, red onion, Old Bay, lemon juice, mayonnaise, dill, salt, and pepper together in a large bowl.

Combine by gently tossing.

As soon as possible, or cover and store in the fridge for later. Salad can be stored for up to 2 days in the refrigerator.

The main issue here is how to actually serve it. It’s great on crackers or piled high on a crusty baguette with some greens. Additional factors to think about:

Put into a cup made of butter lettuce.
Pasta can be used to seafood to make a pasta salad (chilled)
Pastry shells stuffed with a seafood salad can be baked and served.
Fill a tomato’s hollow with a seafood salad.

Notes

To the best of my knowledge, no other seasoning comes close to duplicating the flavor of Old Bay. It’s simple to find, and if you can’t, you may use a similar spice blend. Since the exact list of Old Bay’s 18 ingredients is a closely guarded secret, all you can do is your best. The following blend is roughly 1/4 cup and calls for 1/2 tsp in the recipe. The only thing you need is somewhere to store it airtight, and I have a feeling you’ll end up making use of it.
