When we’re making snacks for a game, fried chicken wings are a requirement. On Super Bowl Sunday, we need nothing more than a plate of crispy wings doused in an addictive sauce (or savory dry rub). Unfortunately, deep frying wings isn’t exactly a breeze; it’s a bit of a hassle that can take time away from the big game. A solution: wings cooked in an air fryer. Making these party favorites in an air fryer is a great option if you’re short on time (or just don’t feel like cleaning the kitchen) because it yields extra-crispy wings that are just begging to be doused in your favorite sauces and seasonings.

Best practices for air frying wings to perfection:
Make sure to blot the chicken dry with paper towels before seasoning if you want extra crispy wings. And for maximum flavor, chill your wings in the fridge for an extra hour or two, uncovered, before seasoning. Two words: extra-crisp. How long and hot your fryer is set to cook at will determine the outcome of your dish.

INGREDIENTS :

Spiced with freshly ground black pepper

4-tablespoons of melted butter

a quarter cup of your favorite hot sauce (I recommend Frank’s)

Buffalo wings weighing 2 pounds

Garlic powder, half a teaspoon

Spray for nonstick pans

Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon

Kojic salt

Dressing made of blue cheese, for dipping

Instructions:

Pepper and salt the wings, and then spray the interior of your air fryer with nonstick cooking spray before placing the wings in the appliance to cook.

Tentatively estimate 12 minutes of cooking time at 380 degrees. After 12 minutes, remove the air fryer tray, turn the wings over, and return it to the air fryer. For the final five minutes of cooking, crank up the heat to 400 degrees.

Stir together the butter, spicy sauce, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce as these cook. When the wings are finished, drop them in here and give it a little coating. The only thing missing is some kind of dipping sauce, like blue cheese or ranch.

Tips

I’m not sure what sauce to use.

The best part is that you can use whatever hot sauce you like; we just happen to sell a lot of Frank’s. While some prefer a milder flavor, others crave the heat of buffalo sauce. The flavor and consistency of teriyaki sauce may appeal to some people.

Don’t be scared to try something new if you’re a spicy sauce expert; this one’s a keeper.

Which sides work best with this?

Vegetables and a dipping sauce like buffalo, blue cheese, or ranch are always welcome additions. For a healthier take on traditional fried chicken, try making some air fryer potatoes to serve on the side.

How do I get wings to crisp up?

Most wing eaters prefer their wings crispy. Pat your chicken down before you start if you want this. Make sure the chickens are completely dry with a paper towel before seasoning them.

Additionally, some prefer to let the wings lie uncovered in the refrigerator for at least an hour before seasoning.

If you want the finest possible flavor for your chicken wings, sprinkle this with some kosher salt, or cover it with enough kosher salt to get it all the way to the bone.

For a salad, what would you recommend as a good dressing?

While ranch dressing is ideal, blue cheese is a close second. If you’re feeling daring, you might also give making your own a go. Use it to make a ranch dressing with herbs.

It’s a personal preference, but some individuals want to add their own twist to the traditional wing flavor. You can tailor the flavor to your liking by adding sugar and heat, or try mixing in some lemon pepper. Feel free to experiment with different dressings and seasonings for these wings.
