As far as breakfasts go, there’s not much out there that’s as awesome as this French toast bake. It’s not just the ease with which you could make this, it’s also how delicious it is. It’s so good that even if you made a 12 serving size for a family of 6, you’d get no leftovers at all!!

This recipe is the ultimate weekend breakfast, and even on weekdays since you can store and reheat in the oven when required. Mixing cinnamon with brown sugar brings out a flavor that’s inexplicably awesome. Instead of cinnamon, you could go with nutmeg or cloves, and still get the same awesome flavor.

This recipe is a must-have in your culinary arsenal. Why don’t you give your family a treat with this!

Total cook time: 1 hour

Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

½ cup melted butter (1 stick)
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 loaf Texas Toast fresh sliced bread (Not frozen)
4 large eggs

1½ cup whole milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoon light brown sugar, mixed with 2 teaspoon cinnamon
Powdered sugar
Real maple syrup, if desired

How to Prepare

Step 1:

Place butter in a microwave bowl and microwave until melted. Add 1 cup brown sugar to the melted butter and stir until well combined. Pour this butter-sugar mix into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan, and spread evenly on the pan’s floor.

Step 2:

Beat eggs, milk, and vanilla together until they’re well combined, then set aside

Step 3:

Place a layer of Texas Toast over the butter filled baking pan. Spread a cup of the egg mixture evenly over the bread, then top with a layer of sprinkled brown sugar-cinnamon mix. Place a second layer of French Toast on the sprinkled cinnamon mix, and then repeat the process for eggs and sprinkled cinnamon mix.

Step 4:

Cover the pan tightly and chill overnight in the fridge.

Step 5:

When it’s breakfast time, bake at 350F for 40-45 minutes on the lower middle rack of the oven. The pan should be covered for the first 30 minutes of baking, and uncovered after that.

Step 6:

Take out baked French Toast from the oven, allow to cool a bit, then sprinkle with powdered sugar. If desired, serve with pure maple syrup.
