Salmon patties, fried in the style of the South, are a kid-friendly option for dinner. Sandwiched between two pieces of bread or in a bun, this dish is simple, quick, and easy to make. You can have dinner on the table in no time if you add some mayonnaise or whip up your own unique sauce.
The flavor has always appealed to me, even though we didn’t eat many salmon patties when I was a kid. Needless to say, my favorite food is anything that can be sandwiched between two pieces of bread. I’ve always had a serious problem controlling my cravings for sandwiches.
As an adult, I’ve discovered the many delicious preparations of salmon. Grilling, pan-frying, and baking are my three favorite preparation methods. A lot of people might balk at the high cost of fish, but I try to eat it whenever I can.
These salmon patties are great because they take very little time to prepare. All I need is canned salmon and some pantry staples to make a meal. I usually have at least two cans stashed away in the kitchen. Simply combine all of the ingredients in a bowl and fry as directed. If time permits, the mixture can be prepared and stored in the refrigerator for several hours before being cooked. This can either be a hearty main course or a simple sandwich. If that’s the case, then let’s get to it!
Ingredients:
* 1 (12-ounce) can pink salmon
Totally 2 Eggs
Approximately a quarter cup of chopped onions
A quarter cup of chopped peppers
a couple of tablespoons of cornmeal, yellow
1/4 of a teaspoon of salt
a pinch of garlic powder (about 1/2 tsp)
Mayonnaise, to taste, about 2 tablespoons
Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon
a single dropperful of Texas Pete’s hot sauce
Just under a half a teaspoon of black pepper, ground
White bread, one slice, broken
Add the flour gradually to reach the desired consistency, keeping the 1/4 cup on hand.
Instructions:
Split open the can of salmon and drain it in a colander set in the sink.
If you don’t want the big bones, cut them out. Although, you can still eat them.
Use a fork to make small, even pieces of salmon.
In a big bowl, dump the flaked salmon.
Put in two raw eggs.
Put in some chopped peppers and onions.
Include some cornmeal
Season with salt.
Incorporate the garlic powder.
Mix in some mayonnaise
Put in some Worcestershire sauce
Utilize some Texas Pete’s Hot Sauce
Season with freshly ground black pepper
The bread should be crumbled and added to the bowl.
Don’t overwork the mixture; instead, stir it gently.
To prevent the mixture from being too runny, flour can be added.
Make four burgers from the mixture. Putting aside.
Put some oil or shortening in a pan and heat it over medium heat to fry things.
Brown the bottom of the patties in a pan.
Brown the other side of the patties by carefully flipping them over.
Once browned on both sides, remove from heat and set aside on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
