If you’re feeding a large group of people and are on a budget, try making this Amish Country Casserole. The recipe can be made in advance and stored in the freezer. This casserole is ideal for a transition into the cooler seasons, either in the late summer or early fall or the early warmer months of spring.
Deliciously warm and reassuring Amish fare! Classic hamburger noodle casserole is another name for this dish.
In contrast to the noodle-loving masses, I can’t get enough of Fussili, also known as screw pasta. However, you are free to use any kind of pasta you like.
The recipe is simple and can be easily scaled up by a factor of three. You can make the meal go a little further by including some vegetables.
Ingredients:
1 bag of medium-sized egg noodles, 12 ounces
1 pound of ground meat
Tomato soup, one 10-ounce can
Cream of mushroom soup, one (10.5 oz.) can
Salt and pepper to taste 1 cup milk
Worcestershire sauce, 2 teaspoons
14 teaspoon of garlic powder
Dry onion flakes, 2 tablespoons
Parmesan cheese, grated, 14 cup
Instructions:
Set oven temperature to 350 degrees F. Apply nonstick spray to a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Put aside for the moment.
Egg noodles should be prepared as directed on the package and drained thoroughly before serving.
Ground beef should be cooked and crumbled in a large skillet. Eliminate fatty buildup.
Combining tomato soup, cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and dried onion flakes in a large bowl.
Add the ground beef and cooked egg noodles and mix well. Evenly distribute the mixture into the baking dish.
Tent with aluminum foil and bake for 25-30 minutes.
Sprinkle with grated Parmesan, and round out the meal with a side of garlic bread and some greens.
