Sweet and sour chops cooked with thin slices of onion and lemon. Whether it’s the middle of the week or the weekend, this dish is perfect for dinner.

One dish that always seems to bring people together is pork chops supreme. My mother used to make this to entice us and to give us as a reward when we were good. After I learned how to cook and started my own family, it quickly became one of my favorite meals to make. This recipe has been adapted from a Betty Crocker cookbook from the ’60s. My mom gave me this cookbook the day I tied the knot. That meal was one of my earliest culinary successes. My current spouse shares his earlier appreciation for it. And the first time the kids tried it, it was love at first bite.

An amazing and delectable dish, pork chops supreme is also ridiculously simple to make. Create this as a special treat for your loved ones or just for yourself.

Ingredients:

Four pork chops or loins, each about an inch and a half thick

Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Sliced onions no more than a quarter of an inch thick

Four very thin lemon slices, each about a quarter of an inch thick

14 cup of brown sugar, packed

14 cup of ketchup

Instructions:

Step 1:

Season the pork chops on both sides with salt and pepper, then place them in a baking dish that has not been greased and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes.

Step 2:

Put a slice of onion, a slice of lemon, a tablespoon of brown sugar, and a tablespoon of ketchup on top of each pork chop. Put the lid on it and let it cook for about 20 minutes.

Step 3:

Cook uncovered, turning once, for an additional 29-30 minutes, or until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center registers 155 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 4:

Take out of the oven, and then serve!
