Here is my attempt to recreate the rolls at Texas Roadhouse. These buns are coated in a honey cinnamon butter and are unbelievably soft, buttery, and light. What else can I say?
These Texas Fried Pies Are the Real Deal
Today, all I wanted was a warm, delicate, and comforting baked good. Rarely do I have the urge to bake, but when I do, I create works of culinary art like these authentic-tasting Texas Roadhouse Rolls. I can attest to the fact that these rolls are among the finest I’ve ever had. These buns are to die for, especially when slathered in honey cinnamon butter.
INGREDIENTS
Dry yeast, active: 2 teaspoons
1/2 tsp. sugar
1. milk, warmed
1-1/2 tablespoons of melted butter
Sugar, about a quarter teaspoon’s worth
Approximately 3–4 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
1 egg
Seasoning: 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
I made this using the dough option on my bread machine.
Let the mixture of water, yeast, and 1 tsp. sugar sit until frothy, which should take around 7 minutes. Warm the milk, butter, 1 beaten egg, sugar, salt, and flour and add them to the mixture. Nearly three and a half cups of flour were required. Remove the dough from the bowl once it has rested for the appropriate amount of time, and knead it on a floured board a few more times. Remove pieces about the size of a gold ball, flatten them slightly, and arrange them on a baking sheet that has been oiled. Put in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown if you’ve let it rise for an extra hour.
