This is an excellent and easy pasta dish. If you love shrimp and love penne pasta, this unique recipe will definitely be a fun one to make if you’re interested in something simple that’s ready in minutes.
Ingredients:
One box of Penne Pasta
1lb Shrimp (peeled and deveined) (peeled and deveined)
8 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of butter
a dash of each: salt, pepper, and garlic, equaling 2 teaspoons Salt
3 C Fresh Chopped Spinach, Kale or Arugula (do not use frozen) (do not use frozen)
1 cup of shredded mozzarella or Swiss
Tbsp Oil 3 Cloves of Garlic (minced)
To make pasta, simply follow the package directions and add it to boiling water. During the last five minutes put the shrimp in there, and then cook this until the shrimp isn’t pink anymore.
You should use all the water except for one cup and set it aside. Make sure the pasta and the shrimp are kept warm.
Put some oil in a pan and turn the heat to medium. Butter should be melted before adding the pasta, which should be tossed to ensure even cooking. Put in some seasoning and mix it all up. Keep stirring it every so often and letting it cook for a couple more minutes.
Spinach should be added at this point, and the mixture should be cooked for an additional minute to wilt the leaves. Put in a third of a cup of the cooking water to steam and cook the spinach. Toss in your shrimp and cheese, stirring gently until the cheese melts. Avoid overcooking the dish.
Season to taste with salt, pepper, or whatever else you like. Then, sprinkle some chopped cilantro on top.
Tips
Do I need to use shrimp with tails?
In spite of the fact that the tails must be cut off here, there are those who insist on leaving them on for the sake of taste. Remove the tails but leave the shell on for optimal shrimp shape and flavor without extra effort or seasoning.
Should I only use penne?
Although shrimp penne may be implied by the name, feel free to substitute your preferred pasta shape or shape you happen to have on hand. You don’t have to stick to white pasta if you don’t like it; whole wheat pasta works just as well.
Can I freeze this meal?
This dish tastes best at that time of day. Though it can be frozen, only the shrimp benefits from being stored in this manner, and it doesn’t take long to prepare even after being frozen.
If I put it in the fridge, how long will it last?
This one is good to keep in the fridge for up to five days, and you can reheat it. It’ll still taste fine, but reheating might cause the pasta to become chewy, so plan accordingly. It could benefit from a slow stovetop heating with additional cheese.
Any suggestions for a tasty accompaniment to this dish?
This is delicious on its own, but if you must have a side, bake some bread and serve it alongside. Although, this is one of those dishes that is best when served solo.
