Try these homemade sloppy joes instead of the pre-packaged variety. The best version of a song from your youth, hands down! They’re delicious treats, just right for supper. Beef and other ingredients are combined to create a dish with a fiery flavor in this dish.
I’ve always loved a good sloppy joe. It’s intrinsically fantastic, from the sweet and salty combination to the messiness of it all. Everyone loves sloppy joes, so I’ve been trying out different recipes for them to see which one turns out the best. Different ones ranged from extremely sweet to painfully spicy.
You know what, guys? I think I’ve got it. The perfect balance. This sloppy joe meal is perfectly textured and consistent, and it has just the proper amount of sweetness, acidity, zest, and deliciousness. Even better, it took me no time at all to prepare, and my children devoured it. I like to put mine on toasted buns, but you could also use biscuits or another type of cookie.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
The equivalent of one teaspoon of olive oil.
1 pound of beef, ground
A green bell pepper, minced, about a third
Toss in 3 minced garlic cloves, 1/2 of a large yellow onion, and 1/2 cup of
1-tablespoon worth of tomato paste
Ketchup to the tune of a third of a cup
Simply put, a third of a cup of water
2 Tablespoons white sugar
Yellow mustard, one teaspoon
Use only 3/4 teaspoon of chili powder.
Add a dash of Worcestershire sauce, around 1/2 teaspoon
12 teaspoon of kosher salt
a pinch of crushed red pepper (optional)
Black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon spicy sauce (optional)
Instructions:
In a large skillet, melt the butter and oil over medium to medium-high heat. After about 5 minutes, add the meat and brown it while crumbling it up as it cooks. Drain.
To the same pan, toss in some diced onion and bell pepper and sauté for another two minutes, or until the vegetables are tender. Cook the garlic for about 30 seconds, or until it becomes aromatic. Put the meat back in the pan and add some tomato paste. Make sure everything is thoroughly combined.
To the jar of ketchup, pour the water, brown sugar, mustard, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, red pepper flakes (if using), and black pepper. Put everything in a bowl and mix it thoroughly.
Ten to fifteen minutes over medium heat should be sufficient to get the desired consistency. Take off heat and serve on toasted buns.
