One of my go-to methods for simulating the crispiness of deep-frying yields these baked parmesan crusted pork chops. They’re baked until tender and juicy after being breaded in Parmesan cheese and Panko breadcrumbs. They have all the flavor and texture of traditionally fried foods without the hassle of prepping and cleaning up afterward. To put it simply, the two together work wonderfully.
Ingredients:
Spray for non-stick pans
One cup of freshly grated Parmesan
Bread crumbs, seasoned with Italian herbs and spices, one cup
1/2 an onion diced small 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tsp. of dried minced garlic
Four 5-ounce slabs (about 1.5 inches thick) of boneless, center-cut pork chops
Olive oil, 1 teaspoon
First, get the oven up to temperature (350 F). Line a baking dish with aluminum foil and spray it with cooking spray before proceeding.
Second, combine the bread crumbs, garlic powder, pepper, and Parmesan cheese in a bowl. Don’t use that just yet.
Third, grab some pork chops, coat them in olive oil, and toss them into the Parmesan sauce. Allow the flavors to permeate and coat the ingredients by mixing them thoroughly. After that, place in the baking dish.
Fourth, in a hot oven (400 degrees F), bake the pork chops until they are no longer pink in the center (about 40 minutes). To serve, take the dish out of the oven.
Which method, covered or uncovered baking, yields the best results when cooking pork chops?
First, at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, bake the pork chops uncovered for a total of 15 minutes (more on the timing below). When they’re done (an internal temperature of 145 degrees Fahrenheit is considered safe), take them out and tent them with foil. Wait three minutes before serving the chops.
