Everyone should have a go-to recipe for classic chocolate chip cookies, and this is mine. It really is the best recipe for chocolate chip cookies ever. I’ve been cooking these for a very long time, and everyone who has tried them says that they are really excellent!

ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. This can be done with a handheld mixer or a stand mixer.
  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Incorporate the vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake the cookies for 9-11 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges and slightly soft in the center. Avoid overbaking to maintain a chewy texture.
  8. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes. Transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, grab a cookie (or two) and savor the melt-in-your-mouth goodness!
