Instructions

  3. Brush a 9×13 inch baking dish with melted butter.
  4. Unroll the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp towel to prevent it from drying out.
  5. Place one sheet of phyllo dough in the baking dish and brush it with melted butter. Repeat this process with 7-8 more sheets of phyllo dough.
  6. Spread a layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo dough.
  7. Repeat the layering process with the remaining phyllo dough and nut mixture, brushing each layer with melted butter.
  8. Cut the baklava into diamond-shaped pieces.
  9. Bake the baklava in the oven for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. While the baklava is baking, make the syrup. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, water, and lemon juice. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  11. When the baklava is done, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the syrup over it, making sure to cover each piece.
  12. Let the baklava cool completely before serving.
