Really, I’m just kidding around. And yet… The only reason they made it onto my blog now is because I only traveled to New York City four months ago and indulged in some authentic New York City cookies.
I wasn’t ready to share a chocolate chip cookie recipe from New York City until I’d tried them for myself. That’s certainly pushing it if you ask me… How can you possibly create a recipe for something so well-known without ever having tasted it yourself?
Ingredients:
2.5 cups of Flour (350 grams).
Baking soda, one teaspoon
Suggested Ingredients: 1 tsp. salt, 1 c. softened butter, at room temperature
Equal parts granulated and brown sugar, about 3/4 cup each
One Tablespoon of Vanilla Extract
2 Eggs
Semisweet chocolate chips (Hershey’s or another brand) to fill 2 cups
1-cup worth of chopped pecans (optional)
Baking powder, one teaspoon
Instructions:
To begin, we’ll turn the oven on to warm to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius) before we begin making the dough for our homemade cookies. The next step is to get a large enough bowl and sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.
In a separate dish, mix the butter with the brown sugar, white sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. It’s best to take the butter out of the fridge 30 minutes before you want to start making the chocolate chip cookies so that it may come to room temperature and be easily mixed in with the other ingredients.
Beat the butter and sugar together until fluffy, then add the eggs one at a time and continue beating.
Slowly add the flour and baking soda mixture while continuing to beat until combined.
Do not use a mixer to integrate the chocolate chips and walnuts into the cookie batter; instead, use a spoon or spatula. Now roll the dough into balls and set them on a baking sheet that has been dusted with flour, leaving some space between them.
The ideal baking time for chocolate chip cookies is 20 minutes. They will take more or less time to cook, depending on the strength of your oven; pull them out when they are golden brown.
When done, take them out and set them somewhere cool. Give them a milkshake, it’s a great treat.
