Can’t resist a nice cheesesteak? Delicious, cheesy, meaty, and maybe a little greasy? A nice cheesesteak may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I can dig it! True to form, Devin is a meat-and-cheese kind of man who simply can’t get enough of them. He wanted me to roll up some of the ingredients from his favorite sub and deep fry them, then serve them with a side of sauce.

I have two questions for you before you dismiss this as an unappealing greasy cheese mess: 1 Have you ever eaten a cheeseburger? Do you appreciate being able to make a few changes to a recipe and convince yourself that the new version is healthier than the old one? Please read on if you said “yes” to either of these questions.

Cheeseburger fans, you have no reason to feel guilty about your diet. Those of you who have made it your life’s work to find substitutions for every dish you’ve ever tried may be certain that this one won’t be any different. If you’re having trouble, though, I’ve included some backup plans in the recipe below so you can have your cake and eat it, too.

Even though this recipe is so unbelievably good as written, we only eat it occasionally. A treat for a lazy Sunday or a day of indulgence. The weekly binge viewing of this show is not something I recommend.

Have you tried this recipe? If so, what changes did you make, if any?

ingredients :

Oil from 1 tablespoon of vegetables 1 chopped onion 12 and a half ounces of frozen sandwich steak
Wrappers for one dozen egg rolls, one 14-ounce package
Cut 4 pieces of American cheese in half
Oil for frying, at least 2 cups
Splash of ketchup, about a quarter cup

Instructions:

Put the tablespoon of oil into the pan and heat it over medium heat. After about 5 minutes of cooking and stirring, the onion should be transparent and ready to be added. Crumble frozen steak into the pan, then heat and stir for about 10 minutes, or until the meat is no longer pink. Turn off heat and put aside.

Spread out some egg roll wrappers, and put a cheese half on each one. Spread the beef mixture evenly across the cheese slices. Prepare egg rolls by following the directions on the packaging and rolling them up to seal the edges.

Prepare a deep fryer or a large skillet with an inch of oil heated to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees C).

Roll up the dough and fry in the heated oil until it is golden brown on all sides, about 5 minutes. Take out; wipe liquids on paper towels. To dip, serve hot with ketchup.
